2. Information handled by LightLayout

Floor plans and iCloud data

LightLayout stores the floor plan you create, including floor and room names, geometry, Hue resource identifiers, and the stable identifier of your Hue Bridge. When iCloud is available, this information is stored in Apple CloudKit so it can sync across your Apple devices and with people you choose to invite.

Personal preferences that follow you across devices, such as the selected visual theme, are stored separately in your Apple Account's private CloudKit database. They are not included in a household's shared floor plan.

Information kept on your device

LightLayout keeps a local copy and backup of your floor plan. Your Hue application key, certificate trust information, cached bridge address, and other pairing material remain in device storage and are not placed in CloudKit or a sharing QR code. Every device must pair with the Hue Bridge separately.

Local-network communication

The app discovers and communicates directly with your Philips Hue Bridge over your local network. Appsolute does not proxy light-control commands through its own servers and does not receive your Hue application key.

Support communications

If you contact us, we process the contact details and message you provide so we can reply and resolve your request. Please do not send Hue credentials or other secrets in support messages.

3. Information we do not collect

The current version of LightLayout does not include:

  • a LightLayout user account or authentication database;
  • advertising, cross-app tracking, or data-broker integrations;
  • product analytics or session-recording SDKs;
  • precise location, contacts, photos, health, or fitness data; or
  • our own payment or subscription system.

App purchases are processed by Apple. Appsolute does not receive your payment-card or bank-account details.

4. Why we process information

We process information only as needed to:

  • provide floor-plan editing, Hue control, iCloud sync, and household sharing;
  • preserve the security and reliability of the app;
  • respond to support and privacy requests; and
  • meet legal obligations applicable to Appsolute Oy.

For users in the European Economic Area, these purposes rely primarily on performance of the service you request (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)), our legitimate interests in support and security (Article 6(1)(f)), and compliance with legal obligations where applicable (Article 6(1)(c)).

5. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell or rent personal data. Information may be handled by:

  • Apple: iCloud and CloudKit storage, CloudKit sharing, push delivery, App Store distribution, purchase processing, and platform security;
  • people you invite: participants receive the floor plan and the access level you grant through Apple's sharing interface; and
  • authorities or professional advisers: only when required by law or reasonably necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

A CloudKit sharing link or QR code should be treated as an invitation. If link sharing is enabled, anyone who receives the link may be able to join with the permission configured by the plan owner. The owner can review participants or stop sharing through the Apple sharing interface in LightLayout.

6. Storage, retention, and security

CloudKit data is stored under the relevant Apple Account and retained until the owner deletes it or the service is otherwise terminated. Local app files are retained on the device until they are replaced, reset, or the app is removed, subject to operating-system backup and secure-storage behavior.

Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request, protect legal rights, and meet applicable record-keeping duties. We use Apple's platform security and encrypted network transport where available, but no system can be guaranteed completely secure.

7. Your choices and rights

You can:

  • use LightLayout locally when iCloud is unavailable;
  • choose whom to invite and whether they receive read or write access;
  • review participants, stop sharing, or leave a shared plan through Apple's interface;
  • change local-network and notification permissions in system settings; and
  • contact us for help accessing, exporting, correcting, or deleting relevant data.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or receive a portable copy of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You may lodge a complaint with the Finnish Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman or your local supervisory authority. We normally respond to GDPR requests within one month.

8. International processing

Apple may process information in countries outside Finland or the European Economic Area. Where required, such processing is subject to the safeguards described in Apple's privacy and service documentation and applicable data-protection law.

9. This website

The LightLayout marketing site does not set analytics or advertising cookies and does not include tracking scripts. The hosting provider may process ordinary technical request information, such as IP address, browser information, timestamps, and security logs, to deliver and protect the site. This policy will identify the provider if those practices become material or the site adds analytics.

10. Children

LightLayout is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children through a separate account service. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact us so we can address it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when LightLayout's features, providers, or legal obligations change. We will publish the revised policy here, update the date above, and provide additional notice in the app when a change materially affects users.

12. Contact

For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@lightlayout.app and include “LightLayout” in the subject line.

This policy provides information about our processing under the GDPR and other applicable privacy laws. It is not a contract.
